This week at Whirlow Farm, Nathan and Lexus have been making some art work inspired by the artist Andy Goldsworthy.
The children had to work together to gather materials to make their art pieces.
Back at school, we gathered more materials from around school and then created our own art pieces.
The theme this week at Whirlow Farm was ‘Seeds and Soil’.
We collected samples of soil and then we planted some seeds. We also made ‘soil soup’ as part of our experiment.
In Y3 today we have been looking at place value of numbers. The children used the base ten equipment to make 2, 3 and 4 digit numbers.
The children had to overcome the problem of having not enough of come of the values. For example, Thomas did not have enough ten rods to make 51 so he used 10 ones to make ten rod.
Here is an example where Shifa and Kaneez had to use 10 ten rods to make 100.
In y3HM, we had a big focus on our ‘ beat that’ scores. The aim is to maintain the same score or improve each week. These children managed this last half term – could we have more this half term?
