Halloween day!

What an exciting day we are having and all the children look amazingly terrifying!
We had a secret vote in class for the best boy and girl outfit, it was incredibly close because everyone’s outfits were so fantastic but the prizes went
to Caitlin and Mason.
Their outfits really did frighten me!

Caves

We’ve got our own Stone Age settlement in class now! A huge well done to all the children who have worked so hard create their own caves, they really are fantastic and they look brilliant in the classrooms.
I love the way you made the links with what we have learnt in class and some of you even included cave drawings and fires. Thank you to all the families who have helped with this great creations.
Don’t worry if you’ve not done one yet, there is still plenty of time as we’re continuing with our Stone Age topic after half term.

Our muscles

In science we are learning all about the human body. Last week we learnt about our skeleton and now we can name some of our bones and explain why they are important. This week we were learning about muscles and the effect of exercise on them. Zewer and Mason were determined to get their abdominal muscles working and hold the plank for as long as possible!
They thought they could do it all afternoon, unfortunately they didn’t quite make it that long!

Star learner

A huge well done to Safiyyah for earning the reflect and share badge this week. She works so hard to reflect on her mistake and work on ways to improve her work. She really is a star learner!

Poetry challenge

Y3JD created a fantastic poem for the poetry challenge set for us by David Harmer, the visiting poet that came into school today.
We hope you enjoy it:

Come on everybody, we’re off to do some hunting

Mammoth, mammoth, ooh there’s a mammoth
Huge mammoth as big as an elephant
Tusks as sharp as a jagged rock
Trunk as long as a slithering snake

Come on everybody, we’re off to do some hunting

Deer, deer, ooh there’s a deer
Running as fast as a leopard in the jungle
Legs as strong as a massive giant
I’m as sweaty as a mammoth in summer

Come on everybody, we’re off to do some hunting

Mammoth, mammoth ooh there’s a mammoth
Hunt it, hunt it we need food!
Deer, deer ooh there’s a deer
Hunt it, hunt it, we need food!

Come on everybody, we’re off to do some hunting

Thank you for the fire as bright as the sun
Thank you for the shelter as warm as a blanket
Thank you for the food as tasty as a chicken

Come on everybody, we’re off to do some hunting

Flat Stanley by Thomas Baranowski

Flat Stanley was round like a normal person but his bulletin board fell on him in the night and he was half a cm thick and 4 feet tall.
My favourite character is Stanley because he is the hero. My favourite part was when Stanley saved the day and the most expensive painting in the world. I would recommend this book because it is extremely silly and funny when Stanley kept sliding throughout cracks underneath the doors.
